Privacy Policy
weave is a game published by doodiebop LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”).
Last updated: 10 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data weave collects, why, where it is stored, and the choices and rights you have. If you have any questions, contact us at privacy@doodiebop.com.
Online features are optional
weave is playable entirely offline. The online features — accounts and global leaderboards — are optional. If you never sign in or submit a score, no personal data leaves your device beyond the standard network information any internet service receives when you connect (see “Information collected automatically” below). Some builds of the game ship with online features disabled entirely, in which case nothing is sent to our servers at all.
What we collect
| Data | When it’s collected | Where it’s stored |
|---|---|---|
| Device identifier | Automatically, the first time you launch the game, to create an anonymous play profile so your local progress and leaderboard posting work without a sign-in. | On your device, and on our game server as a credential for your profile. |
| Email address and password | Only if you choose to create an account or sign in with email. | On our game server. Passwords are stored only in hashed form — we never see or store your plain password. |
| Display name | When you choose one, or imported from your platform profile (e.g. your Steam persona name) if you sign in that way. | On our game server and shown next to your scores on public leaderboards. |
| Platform account identifiers (Steam; Google and Apple are planned) | Only if you choose to link or sign in with that platform. | On our game server as a linked credential. |
| Scores and game results (your score, which board, number of players, longest run, and optionally an encoded replay of your inputs) | When you submit a run to an online leaderboard. | On our game server’s leaderboard database. |
| Technical/connection data (IP address, request timestamps) | Automatically, whenever your game communicates with our servers. | In our server and reverse-proxy logs. |
We do not collect your real name, address, payment details (purchases are handled entirely by the store you bought the game from — Steam, Google Play, or the App Store), contacts, location beyond coarse IP, or any advertising identifiers. weave contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Why we use it
- Accounts and sign-in (device id, email, password, platform ids): so your progress and scores are saved and can move with you across devices.
- Leaderboards (display name, scores, game results): to rank players and show global, daily, and weekly leaderboards. Leaderboards are public — your display name and scores are visible to other players.
- Security and abuse prevention (IP, timestamps, optional replays): to keep the service running, prevent cheating, and validate submitted scores.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see it, and who we share it with
- Other players can see your display name and scores on public leaderboards.
- Our infrastructure providers process data on our behalf: our game server runs the open-source Nakama backend on a hosted virtual server, with data stored in a PostgreSQL database. They process data only to host the service for us.
- The platform you play on (Steam / Valve, Google Play, Apple) handles your purchase and, if you choose platform sign-in, the authentication. Their own privacy policies govern that data.
- We may disclose data if required by law.
How long we keep it
- Account data (email, display name, linked credentials) is kept until you ask us to delete it (see “Your rights”).
- Leaderboard scores are kept to maintain rankings. Daily and weekly leaderboards reset on a recurring schedule; all-time boards persist.
- Server logs (including IP) are retained for a limited period for security and operational purposes, then rotated out.
- Local data on your device (your device profile and session tokens) stays on your device and is removed if you uninstall the game or sign out.
Your rights
You can request to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data associated with your account. Email privacy@doodiebop.com from the address linked to your account (or include enough detail for us to identify your profile) and we will action your request, including deleting your account and removing or anonymising your leaderboard records.
We are building self-service account deletion and data export directly into the game. Until that ships, the email path above is how to exercise these rights.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have additional rights, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Children
weave is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact privacy@doodiebop.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game evolves. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, surface a notice in-game.
